Success, the Nick Saban Way
The Alabama Crimson Tide’s head football coach, Nick Saban might be the most polarizing figure in college sports today.
He is either beloved by his Crimson faithful or reviled by his competition. But, whether you love him or you hate him there is something you can learn from one of the most successful coaches in college football history. [Saban boasts 4 National Championships]
One thing I found interesting about this guy is his way of approaching goals. Instead of being outcome driven, he is process driven.
His outlook isn’t to become national champion, it is to be the best on each and every play. If each player on his team is prepared and executes their best, the chances of achieving an ultimate goal are increased.
“Well, the process is really what you have to do day in and day out to be successful,” he explained. “We try to define the standard that we want everybody to sort of work toward… being responsible for your own self-determination, having a positive attitude, having great work ethic, having discipline to be able to execute on a consistent basis, whatever it is you’re trying to do, those are the things that we try to focus on, and we don’t try to focus as much on the outcomes as we do on being all that you can be.”
When asked about success, Saban retorted.
“Everybody wants to be a success. Not everybody is willing to do what they have to do to achieve it.”
I want to know. What are you doing to achieve success in your everyday life? Whether it’s in your career, business, fitness, or relationships. What little things can you implement into your daily process to make you a champion?
